The Teacher new to the District shall be provided release time not to exceed two (2) days<br />

per year for the purpose of observing classes, meetings with his/her Mentor, attending<br />

recommended workshops, assessment preparation, etc. The days may be used in quarter<br />

3. The Resident Educator is not required to do an IPDP nor to utilize the LPDC process.<br />

4. An effort will be made by the Administration to assign an equitable workload/schedule to<br />

an Resident Educator.<br />

G. Protections<br />

1. At any time, either the Mentor Teacher or the Resident Educator may exercise the option<br />

to have a new Mentor assigned. The Mentor and the Resident Educator must operate in a<br />

trusting and comfortable relationship; therefore, no specifics shall be given as to the<br />

exercise of the option and no prejudice or evaluation is to be given such change.<br />

2. All members of the Committee, Mentor Teachers, and Resident Educators shall keep<br />

confidential all discussions, actions, materials and other information to the extent<br />

permitted by law.<br />

3. The regular evaluation of the Mentor Teacher shall not be affected in any aspect by the<br />

Resident Educator Program or its demands.<br />

4. The Mentor Teacher shall not be held liable for the performance of a Resident Educator<br />

or evaluated based on the teacher’s performance as a Mentor Teacher.<br />

5. Resident Educators shall be provided all due process provisions allowed by the master<br />

agreement on Ohio Revised Code.<br />

6. This Article shall not be subject to the grievance procedure.<br />

H. Program Review/Revisions<br />

1. Committee - Mentor Teachers and Entry-Year Teachers may meet as a group with the<br />

Entry-Year Committee prior to the end of each school year<br />

to assess and evaluate the program. Recommendations may be submitted in the form of a<br />

written report to the Association and the Superintendent not later than May 15.<br />

2. Association/<strong>Board</strong> - Association and <strong>Board</strong> representatives may meet to discuss the<br />

recommendations prior to the next school year.<br />

3. Mentor Teachers - In addition to meeting for program evaluation purposes, Mentor<br />

Teachers may meet on a periodic basis for coordination purposes.<br />

I. Records<br />

The Committee shall determine to what extent to keep and retain records of its meetings,<br />

decisions, actions and recommendations to the extent permitted by law.<br />
