3. When approved by the Building Principal, arrival and dismissal at all buildings by<br />

the teachers shall be flexible so as to accommodate a variety of different teacher<br />

schedules, so long as each teacher works a full length day.<br />

4. Teachers shall have the right to depart the building immediately after regular student bus<br />

departure on Fridays and the day before holidays.<br />

5. Each building shall have early dismissal the last student day of the academic year, if<br />

permitted by law.<br />

B. Planning and Preparation Time<br />

1. All teachers and guidance counselors shall be granted at least two hundred (200) minutes<br />

of planning and preparation time per week with at least one (1) daily block of no less than<br />

thirty (30) minutes, in addition to lunch as provided in 606/C, below. The schedule may<br />

be adjusted to accommodate assemblies or shortened short days.<br />

2. Elementary/Middle School art, music, and physical education teachers will assist in<br />

supervising building assemblies, if requested of the Administration by teacher(s) during<br />

that time the teacher(s) is(are) scheduled to be on planning time.<br />

C. Lunch<br />

As required by ORC 3319.111, each regular full-time teacher employed by the <strong>Board</strong> shall be<br />

granted a daily continuous duty-free lunch period, no less than thirty (30) consecutive minutes<br />

in length which shall not be restricted to remaining on school premises. Any teacher leaving the<br />

school during his/her duty-free lunch period must let the office know that he/she is leaving.<br />

The reason need not be given.<br />

D. Required Meetings/In-service<br />

Bargaining unit members required to attend orientation/meetings/ in-service/evening school<br />

events outside of the teacher workday will be paid at Twenty-five Dollars ($25.00) per hour not<br />

to exceed Seventy-Five Dollars ($75.00) per meeting. Bargaining unit members will be paid a<br />

minimum of one (1) hour for any such required orientations/meetings/in-service/evening school<br />

events.<br />

E. Calamity Day<br />

When a school(s) is/are closed because of an “Act of God,” inclement weather, hazardous road<br />

conditions, no utilities, etc., teachers will be expected to report to work from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00<br />

p.m., unless there is a county wide level 3 emergency or the teachers are advised by the<br />

Administration not to report to work. Teachers will be required to report for no more than three<br />

(3) calamity days.<br />

607 CLASS SIZE (P.N. 2006)<br />

A. The parties agree that classes in grade levels and subject areas will be kept as equal as is<br />

possible. There shall be no fewer than forty (40) in-class classroom teachers per 1,000 students.<br />

Further, there shall be no fewer than five (5) Education Service Personnel Teachers per 1,000<br />

students. The Administration will make a good faith effort to limit academic class sizes as<br />

follows: Grades K-4, no more than twenty-six (26) students; Grades 5-8, no more than twentyeight<br />

(28) students; Grades 9-12, no more than thirty (30) students, one hundred seventy (170)<br />

students in a given day.<br />
