Early February 2013 saw the opening
ceremony for the Audi China Building.
Drees & Sommer‘s role involved the
replanning of the 25,000 square meter
shell and facade and completion of
construction. This included sensitive
changes to the building shell, a complete
redesign of the building services equipment
and the fitout including furnishings
and equipment. The German-Chinese
composition of Drees & Sommer team
was decisive for the success of project
control.
This allowed both the quality standards
expected by Audi and the project‘s
internal processes to be met while at
the same time ensuring successful
communication between Chinese
planners, construction companies
and the building owners.
High-quality buildings for the premium
marque
In keeping with the standards applied
to its own products, Audi set the bar
high for its R&D Center. The realization of
user requirements and quality standards
within the prescribed planning and
construction period of less than one
year was a major challenge. Quality
control of planning and construction
was a key focus for the project managers.
Due to the lower depth of planning in
China and – in some cases – lower
quality standards, the German-Chinese
team had to make special efforts to
ensure the success of the project.
