One of the best-known office blocks in Frankfurt – WestendGate – gets a
makeover. The owner decided to modernize to increase the attractiveness
of the building, soon to be 40 years old. The Marriott Hotel in the same
building will also undergo refurbishment. Drees & Sommer is providing
an interdisciplinary team of specialists and generalists for the project.
What happens to an office tower that
was once the tallest building in Germany,
but where 60 percent of the office space
now stands empty In view of the fierce
competition in the banking center, the
owner, the RFR Group – which purchased
WestendGate at the beginning of 2012 –
chose to take a decisive step. The company
will have the building extensively
modernized, thereby increasing its
attractiveness. This move is designed to
win new tenants and retain existing ones.
Even today, WestendGate offers office
space in one of Frankfurt’s most soughtafter
locations. The entrance is striking
as the building is located directly
opposite Festival Hall at the trade fair
grounds. The environment is captivating
as a result of the dynamism of the adjacent
trade fair with contacts in over 150
countries and the evolved structure with
its mansions and Gründerzeit buildings.
