The Fraze Family Fund – 1997 ($474,458) furthers charitable activities and institutions as designated by Martha Fraze-Iams and her sons, Terry and Mark Fraze. Terry Fraze, Martha Fraze-Iams and Mark Fraze Ermal C. Fraze Fund – 1989 ($133,720) honors the founder of Dayton Reliable Tool and Manufacturing Co. and the inventor of the E-Z Open End Can. This fund is advised by members of his family. Fresh Air Farm Society Trust Fund – 1926 ($80,303) dedicates its income to the welfare of sick and needy children living within the city of Dayton. The Fresh Air Farm Society, a youth service organization, transferred its remaining assets to the Foundation when it discontinued operations. Friends Health Care Association, Inc., Fund – 1999 ($10,031) will support the Friends Care Center nursing home in Yellow Springs by providing funds for renovation of the facility. Friends of Young Life Dayton Fund – 1999 aids Young Life Dayton, a relational outreach organization for teens, by supporting social alternatives that counter negative peer pressure for area high school students. The Friendship Fund – 2000 ($23,277) will award Dayton-area youth who are making a difference in the fight against bigotry, bias and hate, with an annual monetary Friendship Award through The National Conference of Community and Justice. Dr. Philip Weisman, a retired physician, and his wife, Charna, established the fund. Larry Fullerton Photojournalism Scholarship Fund – 1987 ($71,833) provides for scholarships to undergraduate students of photojournalism at Ohio colleges and universities. The late Ruth M. and Richard D. Fullerton established this fund in memory of their son, a photographer and managing editor of the Journal-News in Hamilton, Ohio. Richard D. Fullerton (right) Richard D. Fullerton Fund – 1990 ($39,627) salutes a 30-year veteran of WPAFB and author of 99 Years of Dayton Photographers. This fund is designated for improving Dayton-area neighborhoods and was established by his wife, Ruth Fullerton. Fund for Children – 1988 ($134,271) enhances Montgomery County Children Services Board’s ability to protect children who are abused, neglected and dependent. Fund for Higher Education – 1988 ($112,947) works to increase the range and quality of collegiate programs. The fund was created by Robert S. Oelman, former chair of NCR Corporation and an architect of the modern system of higher education in the Greater Dayton area. Fund for the Homeless – 1987 ($247,849) provides for grants to organizations providing shelter, food and other services to homeless people in Greater Dayton. Anonymous donors created the fund. Dr. and Mrs. John Genovesi Fund – 2000 ($27,498) will meet changing community needs in the Miami Valley region by supporting its charitable organizations and programs. John Genovesi has been an obstetrician/ gynecologist in the Dayton area for over 30 years. Theresa M. George Theresa M. George Fund – 2003 honors the memory of this member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, The Christ Child Society of Dayton, the President’s Club and the Leo Meyer Society of the University of Dayton, and the Legacy Circle of Good Samaritan Health Foundation. Gene and Kathy Gepfrey Family Fund – 1998 ($30,524) was established by Kathy M. Gepfrey, a retired homemaker and widow of Gene Gepfrey, who was a tool engineer with Chrysler Corp. The fund represents a commitment and involvement by the family in support of their church and other area organizations. Gershow Family Fund – 1985 was established to benefit 12 area organizations, some of which serve the arts, health needs and religious facilities. The fund was founded by Fan B. Gershow. DeWitt F. and Ruth N. Gerstle Fund – 1991 ($21,887) will provide for the First Baptist Church of Dayton through the remainder from a charitable gift annuity established by the Gerstles. The Thomas H. Gillaugh Fund for Youth – 1996 ($67,035) contributes support, as directed by the donor, to nonprofit organizations and programs benefiting youth. Thomas Gillaugh, a fourth generation Daytonian, is a retired insurance professional who has been very active on boards of organizations benefiting children. Glennon Family Fund #1 – 1986 ($58,348) assures funding to nonprofit organizations selected by the family of Richard F. Glennon, Sr., president of Riverain Investment Co. and an emeritus member of The Dayton Foundation’s Governing Board. Glennon Family Fund #2 – 1987 ($500,928) is dedicated to the needs of the poor in the Dayton/Miami Valley region and was a response to a challenge grant from the Ford Foundation. GM/Frigidaire Scholarship Fund – 1996 ($1,917,595) provides scholarships to active and retired Montgomery County GM Corp. employees, spouses and dependents who wish to attend specified accredited institutions of higher learning. ...through help to animals... Jane Scharrer “Animals are an extension of my family. I’ve lived with dogs since I was six years old, and I can’t imagine being without them. They’re smart, comforting and provide wonderful companionship for people. “I’m grateful that, through my fund, I’m able to do something for the Humane Society of Greater Dayton and the Society for the Improvement of Conditions for Stray Animals (SICSA). I hope that my gifts will help these organizations to continue their good work for animals in need for years to come.” Jane Scharrer created an endowment – the Albert H. and Helen N.
