RELATE INSTITUTE
University Centre Doncaster is
home to The Relate Institute, a
centre of excellence for
relationship studies. It was
established in July 2006 as a result
of a unique and innovative
partnership with University
Centre Doncaster and Relate, the
national relationship support
charity. The Relate Institute offers
a unique Postgraduate Diploma in
Relationship Therapy, equipping
and qualifying students to work
with couples, families and
individuals on relationship issues.
Current research activity at the
centre includes the following
areas: domestic violence and
abuse, work with children and
young people, and measuring
outcomes in respect of the
250,000 yearly counselling
sessions provided by Relate.
Journals and conferences
Both the ‘Journal of Music’ and
the ‘International Journal of
Performance Arts’ were founded
and edited at the University
Centre Doncaster. We regularly
host conferences such as the
International Conference of
Digital Technologies and
Performing Arts. Our staff keep
their scholarship up to date by
attending and giving papers at
national and international
conferences and workshops, as
well as external examining at
other Universities and colleges,
and undertaking doctoral study.
Links with industry
Each course has excellent links
with relevant industry sectors and
professionals. Expert sessions and
placements mean your higher
learning is focused around your
career and continues to drive it
forward.
We arrange guest lectures and
seminars from a range of industry
professionals so that students
have the chance to hear from
leading practitioners in their field.
Special events such as Innovation
Equation, our recent collaboration
with management consultants,
QED Consulting, enable students
to get a firsthand insight into the
priorities and challenges facing
today’s businesses.
