How will this course help me and
my organisation
This course will give you an
advanced knowledge and
understanding of clinical
assessment, treatment strategies,
cultural contexts and therapeutic
approaches involved in the
process of Psychosexual Therapy.
You will gain the skills to work in
either the statutory or voluntary
sectors, or as an independent
practitioner, as well as
professional accreditation with
the British Association for Sexual
and Relationship Therapy.
Successful students may progress
to the MSc degree.
Course description
The course uses a variety of
teaching methods including
formal lectures, structured skills
development and practice,
workshops and programme group
Modules include: Clinical
Assessment, Treatment Strategies,
Clinical Placement and Practice
Issues, Further Issues in
Psychosexual Therapy, Cultural
Contexts and Therapeutic
Approaches.
ASSESSMENT
Assessment is by written
assignments. There is an annual
supervisor’s report and you will
submit a Professional Portfolio.
You must adhere to the COSRT
Code of Ethics and Practice.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
You will need a counseling or
therapy qualification or a relevant
health professional qualification;
a first degree or equivalent Level 6,
plus access to a practice base in a
Relate Centre or other approved
clinical setting. You must already
have 50 hours of supervised

skills, IT skills and access to the
internet. If you do not have a
previous Relate practitioner
qualification, you will need to
attend an interview.
