Each of <strong>the</strong> producti<strong>on</strong> stati<strong>on</strong>s is compri<str<strong>on</strong>g>sed</str<strong>on</strong>g> of <strong>the</strong> following functi<strong>on</strong>al blocks:<br />

C<strong>on</strong>tainer feeder<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>tainers are stored in a gravity feeder with a<br />

capacity of 36 units distributed over four columns. Two<br />

barrier type photocells detect <strong>the</strong> minimum level and<br />

absence of c<strong>on</strong>tainers in <strong>the</strong> feeder. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> extracti<strong>on</strong> of<br />

<strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tainer is carried out using two positi<strong>on</strong>ing<br />

cylinders with different strokes.<br />

Hopper.<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> raw material ("pearls" in colors) is stored in two<br />

hoppers of different sizes. First, <strong>the</strong> raw material is<br />

discharged at a set rate from <strong>the</strong> large hopper via a<br />

cylinder with two fingers and <strong>the</strong>n <strong>the</strong> exact quantity is<br />

adjusted from <strong>the</strong> small hopper using a cylinder which<br />

remains open for <strong>the</strong> time programmed.<br />

Displacement of <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tainer.<br />

Various pneumatic actuators transfer <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tainers<br />

through <strong>the</strong> stati<strong>on</strong>: <strong>on</strong>e actuator allows horiz<strong>on</strong>tal<br />

movement; ano<strong>the</strong>r vertical movement and a third<br />

rotates 90º. <str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>tainer is held using a platform with<br />

two telescopic vacuum pads.<br />

In <strong>the</strong> event that <strong>the</strong> BCR c<strong>on</strong>siders <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tainer to be<br />

err<strong>on</strong>eous, it will be ejected to a c<strong>on</strong>tainer. If correct it<br />

will be displaced to <strong>the</strong> next stati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

C<strong>on</strong>veyer belt.<br />

Each stati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>has</str<strong>on</strong>g> a transfer secti<strong>on</strong> as a part of <strong>the</strong><br />

AMHS (Automated Material Handling System),<br />

actuated by a c<strong>on</strong>tinuous current motor.<br />

Each secti<strong>on</strong> includes a series of sensors and cylinders<br />

which c<strong>on</strong>trol <strong>the</strong> inflow of <strong>the</strong> c<strong>on</strong>tainers, detect<br />

queues (giving <strong>the</strong> order to paralyze <strong>the</strong> extracti<strong>on</strong> of<br />

more c<strong>on</strong>tainers), and reject c<strong>on</strong>tainers by evacuating<br />

<strong>the</strong>m to <strong>the</strong> recycling box in <strong>the</strong> event that <strong>the</strong> BCR<br />

detects err<strong>on</strong>eous c<strong>on</strong>tainers.<br />

Scales.<br />

<str<strong>on</strong>g>The</str<strong>on</strong>g> producti<strong>on</strong> stati<strong>on</strong>s have precisi<strong>on</strong> scales fitted<br />

with an RS-232 interface for <strong>the</strong> output of data to <strong>the</strong><br />

PLC and with LCD display for visualizati<strong>on</strong>.<br />
