First, I would like to thank Professor Nachbin for his support, encouragement and
guidance along these years and for introducing me to the fascinating world of
water waves. It has been a privilege to work with him.
It has been also a pleasure to study at IMPA, for the institution provides all the
conditions for it. In particular, the Fluid Dynamics Group at IMPA has developed
an excellent atmosphere for work.
