Nomination Information for the 2010<br />

C SM Doug Russell Award<br />

The annual CSM Doug Russell Award recognizes<br />

the outstanding achievements <strong>of</strong> Soldiers within<br />

or on the behalf <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Military</strong> <strong>Intelligence</strong> (MI)<br />

Community. Eligibility criteria include:<br />

Ê Rank <strong>of</strong> sergeant (E-5) or below.<br />

Ê In the Active Army, Army Reserve, or National<br />

Guard.<br />

Ê Actions that directly contribute to the MI Corps.<br />

Ê Must be fully eligible for re-enlistment.<br />

Ê Does not have to hold an MI MOS.<br />

Anyone may nominate a Soldier for this award.<br />

There can be only one nomination from each <strong>of</strong> the<br />

following:<br />

Ê MI Group, Brigade, Battalion.<br />

Ê Brigade Troop/Support Battalions within a maneuver<br />

division.<br />

Ê MI Support Elements (G2/Brigade S2/Battalion<br />

S2) within a maneuver division.<br />

Ê DCSINT oriented organizations (EAC units and<br />

positions not formally assigned to a specific MI<br />

Group/Brigade/Battalion).<br />

Nomination packets must be unclassified. All<br />

classified packets are automatically eliminated<br />

from the award process. Nomination packets must<br />

be submitted in hard copy only (No disk or email).<br />

The only exception is the photograph, which must<br />

be sent via email to the POCs, in addition to the<br />

hardcopy. Packets must contain:<br />

Ê Cover letter signed by the originator <strong>of</strong> the<br />

nomination.<br />

Ê Narrative specifically stating the nominee’s key<br />

accomplishments and achievements, and the<br />

impact on the MI Corps.<br />

Ê Endorsement letter from the first 0-6 in the<br />

chain <strong>of</strong> command.<br />

Ê Biography <strong>of</strong> the nominee.<br />

Ê 8" X 10" photograph <strong>of</strong> the nominee in Class A<br />

uniform (DA Photograph preferred).<br />

Ê Copy <strong>of</strong> the nominee’s Enlisted Record Brief.<br />

Ê Completed DD Form 2266 Hometown News<br />

Release Information (Unsigned).<br />

Waivers for other than an 0-6 endorsement may be<br />

requested from the POC below.<br />

Unclassified nomination packets must be sent via<br />

Certified Mail to the MI Corps CSM to:<br />

Headquarters, U.S. Army <strong>Intelligence</strong><br />

Center and Ft. Huachuca<br />

ATTN: CSM Doug Russell Award (ATZS-CSM)<br />

Nominations must be received by 15 December<br />

2009. Nomination packets will be reviewed from<br />

4 to 8 January 2010 by a board consisting <strong>of</strong> the<br />

MI Corps CSM, Honorary MI Corps CSM, INSCOM<br />

CSM, Army DCSINT G2 CSM, and CSM Doug<br />

Russell, Retired. The Chief <strong>of</strong> the MI Corps has final<br />

approval <strong>of</strong> the board results.<br />

The winner will be invited to attend the MI CSM/<br />

SGM conference in March 2010 to receive:<br />

Ê The CSM Doug Russell Award.<br />

Ê The Knowlton Award (Courtesy <strong>of</strong> MICA).<br />

Ê A one year MICA membership (Courtesy <strong>of</strong> MICA).<br />

Ê The <strong>American</strong> <strong>Military</strong> Society President’s Coin.<br />

Ê A one year membership in the <strong>American</strong> <strong>Military</strong><br />

Society.<br />

Ê A plaque inscribed with the MI Soldier’s Creed.<br />

Ê A $150.00 gift certificate from AAFES.<br />

The winner will be announced NLT 22 January<br />

2010.<br />
