Pupils’ charity effort
‘was an inspiration’
Report by Jennifer Kent
THREE pupils at St Gregory’s
School in Lydiate who
organised a Victorian tea and
coffeee event for charity have
been called “an inspration”
by the head teacher.
Lucy Hurst and Isabella
Salzano begun the day by
taking part in the running for
the Sports relief event.
But this was just the
beginning, as in the
afternoon they were joined
by fellow pupil Anna
Butchard to host a successful
tea and coffee break in their
school hall.
They asked for donations of
cakes from family and friends
and served these with tea and
coffee to all who supported
the event.
The girls dressed to impress
for the occasion wearing
Victorian maid outfits to
follow on from their recent
topic studied in class of ‘the
Victorians’. The tables were
also authentically dressed
with special china crockery.
The pupils served tea and coffee to raise funds for charity.
As the guests arrived, one of
the girls showed them to a
table whilst the other two
brought over the delicious
cake stands and numerous
pots of tea and coffee.
When they finished, the
girls cleared, washed up and
relaid them making sure the
place looked neat and tidy.
The event riased more than
£230 for the Meningitis
