PUPILS <strong>at</strong> St Nicolas CE Primary<br />
School celebr<strong>at</strong>ed Easter with a<br />
cracking competition raising<br />
money to help those in need.<br />
The children expressed their<br />
cre<strong>at</strong>ive side as they decor<strong>at</strong>ed eggs<br />
to enter an ‘egg–citing’ new<br />
competition.<br />
Entrants were required to pay a fee<br />
to enter the competition and all<br />
money raised went to buy chickens<br />
for families in South Sudan.<br />
These chickens will not only help<br />
to provide a household with a<br />
nutritious diet of eggs but also give<br />
them some extra money by selling<br />
surplus eggs and new chickens.<br />
This money can then be used to<br />
pay for their child’s educ<strong>at</strong>ion,<br />
essential health care and other<br />
basic needs.<br />
The beautifully decor<strong>at</strong>ed eggs<br />
were put on display in the school,<br />
where parents marvelled <strong>at</strong> all the<br />
amazing entries expressing Easter<br />
themes, the Olympics and the<br />
Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.<br />
Harry Davies, aged 10 said: “It was<br />
afunwaytoraisemoneyforpeople<br />
in South Sudan to buy chickens<br />
enabling them to receive an<br />
educ<strong>at</strong>ion.”<br />
Holly Davies, also a pupil <strong>at</strong> the<br />
school said: “I loved making my<br />
egg. It took a long time but it was<br />
gre<strong>at</strong> to see it on display in the hall.<br />
Anyone could enter and use their<br />
ideas to make their egg. It was a<br />
nice way to help other people who<br />
are less fortun<strong>at</strong>e than ourselves.”<br />
