There being no public present the public question time ceased at 7.05 pm. WC 4.0 CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES WC 4.1 Confirmation of the Minutes of the Works Committee meeting held on Tuesday 28 November 2006. Recommendation That the minutes of the Works Committee meeting held on 28 November 2006, as circulated to all Committee members, be confirmed as a true and accurate record. Moved Cr D Hoult Seconded Cr B Cane That the recommendation be adopted. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY WC 5.0 WC 5.1 REPORTS Works Supervisor Report Author Works Supervisor Disclosure of Any Interest Nil Roadworks Odene Road works have been completed with works starting on Useless Loop Road on 19 February 2007.
ORDINARY COUNCIL AGENDA - 30 MAY 2007 Page 35 With these works starting S & SL Guthrie Earthmoving Contractors (WA) Pty Ltd has not been able to stockpile road building material due to mechanical problems with its bulldozer. This will cause some delay to the works schedule. We have been able to obtain another contractor to proceed with the stockpiling but will not be able to commence until 19 February 2007. Within 3 days we should have enough material stockpiles to enable carting to commence. An extra truck has also been hired to start at same time to tow the Shire's water tanker with S & SL Guthrie Earthmoving Contractors (WA) Pty Ltd supplying a truck side tipper and water tanker as required. Edge patching will start on Monkey Mia Road on 20 February 2007, with work on Shark Bay Road as well. This should have a duration of between 4-6 weeks. Set up of Tamala camp for next year will take approximately 3 days as work has also been completed on the sleeping vans. Town Maintenance Town Maintenance has continued with watering of lawns during windy times. Some problem times and frequency of watering is to be changed to attempt to limit the effects these conditions have to the watering. Plant Maintenance Maintenance of plant has been ongoing during the last 6 weeks, with work done on the grader and Volvo loader having to be done out of town. CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY WC 6.0 WORKS REPORTS WC 6.1 Shark Bay World Heritage Discovery Centre - Front Gardens BU 106.03 Author Works Supervisor Disclosure of any Interest Nil Background Request from January 2007 Council meeting to provide ideas for gardens in front of the Centre. Comment Some discussion at Works Committee with ideas of cost efficient and economical way for improvement to this area. The well area was also included in previous discussions to beautify with safety provisions to be put in place for the public. Legal Implications Nil Policy Implications Nil.
