International Children’s Conference on the Environment
- something for you?
The United Nations Environment Program, UNEP, is organising the 5th
International Children’s Conference on the Environment, ICC, in July 2004.
Children from all over the world will meet to share their concerns and
ideas about the environment and to learn about ways to meet the challenges.
Date: July 19 to 23, 2004
Place: New London, Connecticut, USA
Age group: 10 to 13 years
Costs: Conference fee $350 (includes accomodation, food and
program events), plus travel costs.
ISS is a "MILJØFYRTÅRN"-school, an Environmental Lighthouse, and many children are
involved in environmental issues. Why not apply to become a conference delegate? The
child/group must have an adult chaperon - be it a parent or a teacher or someone else. There
will also be an adult delegation from the Young Agenda 21 foundation in Stavanger at the
conference - the foundation is applying to become host of the 2008 conference.
Deadline for application is December 15th. You’ll find all necessary conference information

The Informer
Issue dates for future Informers in the 2003-04 school year is: 12 December..,
and then: 16 January, 30 january, 13 February, 27 February, 19 March,
2 April, ......with deadlines always 3 days before - meaning Tuesdays at noon.
The Informer is issued every two weeks, which amounts to 17-18 editions per school year.
To have CLASSIFIED ADS published in the Informer, you can reach me in one of the the
following ways:
by e-mail: LHoie@isstavanger.no
by phone: 51 55 43 22 (- to dictate tiny ads)
by telefax: 51 55 43 01 (- for whatever)
or just pass by the school with your advertisement on a diskette.
The deadline is by 12 noon on Tuesdays = three days before the following Friday’s issue of
the Informer. I prefer to receive your ads and eventual illustrations by e-mail or on a
diskette. This saves me from actually writing the text in – I can just copy and paste it – and
it reduces errors.
I can read all commonly used file formats for pictures, like JPEG, GIF, TIFF or EPS.
Please make sure that you enclose a copy of the original picture/illustration and not just a
copy placed in your document. This is to avoid poor quality.
The editor reserves the right to edit ads to fit the space requested by you.
The prices are as follows:

Half page NOK 800,- NOK 400,- NOK 200,-
Quarter page: NOK 400,- NOK 200,- NOK 100,-
Eight of a page NOK 200 NOK 100,- NOK 50,-
Families with children at ISS receive a free copy sent home in their youngest child’s backpack.
Others wishing to subscribe may do so for the annual subscription rate of NOK 250,-.
If you are a subscriber and wish to continue your subscription, an invoice will be sent to
your address in the fall of 2003. Whether you are subscribing or advertising we will need
your full name and address for invoicing. Thank you!
