Disciplinary Measures<br />
Violations of this section may result in discipline as outlined in this contract under<br />
Article VIII, Discipline. However, the Employer may repeat manner of discipline.<br />

ARTICLE X<br />
VACATIONS<br />
Eligibility for Vacation<br />
Vacations are earned for service during the past year with the understanding that<br />
such vacations can only be taken in increments of one-half (1/2) day or more except in<br />
an emergency situation after approval is obtained from the employee's supervisor.<br />
Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 10.6 and except in emergency situations,<br />
requests for vacations in increments of one-half (1/2) day shall be made at least twentyfour<br />
(24) hours in advance. Vacation salaries shall be paid in advance if a written request<br />
is submitted to the employee's supervisor two (2) weeks in advance of the<br />
vacation.<br />
Section 10.2 Length of Vacation<br />
Vacation time shall be calculated from the date of hire of each employee. Vacation hours<br />
eligible to be used each year shall be based on the following continuous years of service.<br />

Section 10.3 Accrual of Vacation Credit<br />
Employees shall start to accumulate vacation credit upon completion of their probationary<br />
period, retroactive to their date of employment. Vacation days may not be<br />
taken during the first six (6) months of employment unless otherwise mutually agreed.<br />
Unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Employer an employee shall not accrue vacation<br />
leave for any pay period during which they are on layoff nor shall an employee<br />
accrue vacation leave while they are on an unpaid leave of absence. Accrual of vacation<br />
credit shall also be subject to the provisions of Section 22.13.<br />
Section 10.4 Use of Vacation for Other Purposes<br />
To the extent sick leave may be exhausted, an employee may request and use vacation<br />
leave for purposes other than taking a vacation.<br />
Section 10.5 Vacation Pay<br />
The rate of vacation pay shall be the employee’s regular straight time hourly rate of<br />
pay in effect for the employee's regular job at the time the vacation is being taken.<br />
