Product Code Product ABV Size Taste Guide Suitable for Vegetarians (V) Vegans (VE) BORDEAUX Over the past few years consumers have moved away from traditional French regions, such as Bordeaux, in favor of the New World and varietal wines from Southern France. We have reduced the number of wines that we list from Bordeaux but still offer some excellent quality wines from the major regions. BORDEAUX RED 149656 Ginestet Classique Bordeaux Rouge 2007/09 12.5% 75cl C Screwcap A delicate yet complex nose with prune and blackcurrant aromas showing through. Full in body with supple, ripe tannins and rich blackcurrant fruit leading to a well balanced finish. Drink with: any red meat dishes, hard cheeses. £££ 153186 Ginestet Lussac St. Emilion 12.5% 75cl C NEW Deep garnet in appearance, this wine has a rich intense nose that leads into a palate that is balanced and well rounded with plenty of dark berry fruits and subtle, well integrated tannins. Drink with: beef, casserole, hard cheeses. £££ 151537 Chateau Plaisance, Grand Cru St Emilion 2005/07 13.5% 75cl C Beautifully developed garnet-red in colour. Shows a very ripe nose of concentrated fruits of the forest and a dense palate reminiscent of black cherries and chocolate with pretty notes of liquorice and eucalyptus. The typicaly bordelaise structure is flexible, with soft, rounded tannins that bring a balance and add length to the palate which finishes dry and clean. Drink with: roast beef, venison and other game. £££ 151536 Chateau Haut Pezat, Grand Cru St Emilion 2006 12.5% 75cl C This wine is made traditionally with quite long vatting periods of between 5 and 6 weeks in concrete tanks. The wines are then aged in 2 year old casks (10% of which is renewed yearly). Hints of ripe plums and damsons on the nose and on the palate. Drink with: roast beef, venison and other game. £££ 151535 Chateau de Valois, Pomerol 2002/05 13% 75cl C The estate has been family owned since 1862, and is divided into 7 parcels with the largest plot just south of the Pomerol plateau. The blend is traditional with 75 per cent Merlot, 13 per cent Cabernet Franc and the remainder Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink with: red meats, duck with sauce, hard cheeses. £££ 149894 Chateau d'Arsac, Cru Bourgeois Margaux 2004/06 13% 75cl C A toasty, smoky nose, opening up to reveal a generous bouquet of red fruits. Silky and seductive palate, structured but rounded, with a concentrated middle and a flourish of vanilla and blackcurrant on the finish. The individual varietals are harvested and vinified separately and aged in a selection of new and used French barriques. Drink with: game, venison, steaks with sauces etc. £££ 151534 Chateau Grand Puy Ducasse 5th Cru Classe, 13% 75cl D V Pauillac 2004/05 The estate totals 40 hectares under vine. The grapes are entirely hand picked and de-stemmed and lightly crushed before fermentation in stainless steel vats. The wine is aged in oak from 18 to 24 months according to the vintage. It has a dense, almost opaque colour with gorgeous up-front, sweet, ripe fruit. The palate is medium to full bodied and chewy with a well endowed, plush texture. The wine is pure, complex and engaging. Drink with: fillet steak, venison, beef casseroles. £££ 17
