Product Code Product ABV Size Taste Guide Suitable for Vegetarians (V) Vegans (VE) LOIRE LOIRE The Loire region is most famous for its excellent white wines and refreshing roses. Whites vary from fine Sauvignon's in Sancerre and Touraine and flinty, minerally Muscadet from the area around Nantes. Muscadet in its Sur Lie form (aged on its lees) can be the perfect wine to drink with mussels, oysters and other seafood and is much underated these days. It is also worth trying the delightful Loire reds, made from Cabernet Franc, such as Chinon, which have a lovely green pepper character and can also de drunk slightly chilled. RED 151487 Chinon Remy Pannier 2007/08 12.5% 75cl 2 V BIN END This Chinon comes from a single Estate and is made for Remy Pannier by winemaker Philippe Richard, who has an excellent reputation for producing fine quality Cabernet Franc wines. The colour is cherry to purple. The nose has nice red fruit aromas and green pepper. Drink with: rabbit terrine, smoked meats, serve very slightly chilled. ££ ROSE 077169 Rose d'Anjou Ackerman 10.5% 75cl 4 V Coral pink in appearance and medium dry in style with an underlying sweetness and good fruit balance. Drink with: serve chilled with Chinese or Tai food. ££ 151525 Sancerre Rose Domaine Henry Pelle 12.5% 75cl 1 V BIN END La Croix au Garde 2008/10 Produced from Pinot Noir grapes, it has a pale salmon pink colour, refreshing crispness and ripe strawberry fruit flavours. Drink with: delicious aperitif or with plain grilled prawns. £££ WHITE 152715 Muscadet de Sevre et Maine Sur Lie 12% 75cl 1 V BR Domaine bottled This wine is bottled straight from the ‘lees’, hence the name, to produce a wine with excellent body and balance that is fuller in style than basic Muscadet with more character and weight. Drinks really well with oysters or other shellfish. Drink with: perfect with oysters, mussels & bouillabaisse. ££ 149237 Sancerre Domaine Millet 2009/10 12.5% 75cl 2 V Attractive gooseberry fruit on the nose .The taste is quite weighty and soft with nice fruit / acidity balance. Touch more new world style in contast to the more classic Moulin Granger. Drink with: smoked salmon, grilled trout & other seafood. £££ 151932 Pouilly Fume Domaine Fontenilles 2009/10 12.5% 75cl 1 V Attractive Sauvignon style on the nose with a touch of sherbet. Quite lean and grassy on the taste with typical flinty character. Drink with: salmon pate, langoustine & mayonnaise. £££ 077155 Vouvray Ackerman 2009/10 12% 75cl 4 V Medium sweet, fresh, clean and fragrant with white flower aromas and a crisp, refreshing palate. In the past it mainly produced red wines from Gamay but now there is much more emphasis placed on white wines from Chardonnay, try the Macon Cave de Vire which offers an excellent alternative to Chablis. MACONNAIS WHITE 153287 NEW Macon Blanc Cave de Vire 2010/11 12.5% 75cl 1 Lovely peachy aromas on the nose, leading to a full and ripe citrusy white wine. Long and lingering finish with gentle acidity make this wine a good match for many rich fish dishes. Drink with: good aperitif, cod & chips, scampi. ££ BEAUJOLAIS Beaujolais enjoyed a boost in popularity recently, due to the superb quality of the 2009 vintage, recognised as one of the best for 50 years. In good years, such as 2009 and 2010, Beaujolais is a really delightful wine with lots of rich fruit flavour and soft tannins. It is at its best drunk very slightly chilled. Our wine from the village of Chiroubles, from Jean-Pierre Large is a wine of exceptional quality. RED 149197 Beaujolais Villages Cave de Bel-Air 2009/10 13% 75cl B VE Attractive ruby colour. Full flavoured Gamay character with soft red fruit flavours and balancing acidity. Drink with: grilled duck breast, chicken casserole. ££ 149199 Fleurie La Chapelle de Bois 2008/09 13% 75cl C VE The most popular of the Beaujolais Crus, this attractive ruby coloured wine has soft berry fruit and floral aromas on the nose and rich palate showing redcurrant fruit character. Drink with: grilled free range pork sausages, grilled lamb cutlets. £££ 151391 Chiroubles Domaine Cheysson, Jean-Pierre Large 13% 75cl B BR 2008/09 Domaine Cheysson is a lovely 26 hectare property run by Jean-Pierre Large, who produces lovely attractive Beaujolais with soft but rich fruit flavours and excellent balance and length of flavour. Drink with: BBQ chicken leg or lamb cutlets. £££ 149198 Morgon Cave de Bel Air 2008/09 12.5% 75cl B VE Morgon is the 2nd largest Beaujolais Cru after Brouilly. The wines normally have more structure and depth that either Brouilly or Chiroubles. This wine has nice cherry fruit characters and length of flavour. Drink with: perfect with coq au vin, plain duck breast. £££ ALSACE Alsace lies in eastern France between the Vosges mountains to the west and the river Rhine to the east. The wine growing areas are Bas-Rhin near Strasbourg and Haut-Rhin in the south, with the most reputable vineyards sited in the lower foothills of the Vosges. Predominantley a high quality, white wine area, using Reisling, Gewurtztraminer, Tokay-Pinot Gris and Sylvaner, varietals not widley used in the rest of France. WHITE 151702 Gewurztraminer Reserve Cave de Turckheim 12.5% 75cl 2 BIN END 2009/10 Aromatic nose, fruity, floral and spicy, rich, elegant. A concentration of aromas supported by a good freshness and spicy fruit on the palate. Drink with: nice aperitif and drinks well with any slightly spicy food. £££ 151703 Riesling Reserve Cave de Turckheim 2009/10 12.5% 75cl 1 BIN END Fresh lemony nose, floral, with a mineral touch.
