SOUTH AFRICAN WINES We have made some major changes to our South African range this year. We still have the fine wines from Lyngrove Estate in Stellenbosch but have also added a range from Franschhoek Cellar in the Western Cape - the Shiraz is excellent. Also new this year are the easy drinking Red & White Rhino wines with sales from the winery supporting the save the Rhino International charity. The taste has some typical Pinotage earthy character but is well balanced with good fruit concentration, nice complex flavours and good length. Drink with: sirloin steak or venison. ££ 151409 Simonsig Shiraz 2004/06 14.5% 75cl C BIN END Dark ruby colour. Sweet red berry and hints of pepper on the nose. The taste has spicy vanilla flavours blended with concentrated fruit. Aged in a mixture of new and older French and American oak barrels. Drink with: roast duck or a rich casserole. £££ 148433 Simonsig Cabernet Sauvignon 2004/06 14.5% 75cl D BIN END Deep red colour. Black cherry with a hint of cigar box on the nose.
