Information & Communication Technology continued…Unit 4: IT applicationsIn this unit students focus on how ICT is used by organisations to solve ongoing information problems and onthe strategies used to protect the integrity and security of data and information. Using either a relationaldatabase management system (RDBMS) or spreadsheet software, students create solutions to informationproblems. In addition, students use web authoring or multimedia authoring software to produce onscreen userdocumentation. When creating solutions to ongoing information problems, students apply all stages of theproblem-solving methodology. Students explore how organisations manage the storage, communication anddisposal of data and information in order to minimise threats to the integrity and security of data andinformation, and to optimise efficient information handling.During Units 3 and 4, students create information solutions including database management systems, websites,network topologies and user documentation, further building on the skills acquired in Units 1 and 2.EntryCost:No prerequisites of entry to Units 1, 2 and 3. Students must undertake Unit 3 prior to undertaking Unit 4.ICT: 1,2,3 & 4 : A condition of acceptance into this course is payment of a materials charge of approx. $27.00/$37.00 due by <strong>Course</strong> Confirmation Day.
