People are much more likely to feel a sense of community if they live <strong>and</strong> work in the same place.This contributes greatly to the social side of the community by way of increased volunteerism,participation in local debates <strong>and</strong> financial donations to local non-profits/charities.9. The types of recreational amenities, community improvements <strong>and</strong> physical environment theypursue are generally consistent with the desires of tourists or visitors from neighbouringcommunities. This means that an investment in attracting Lone Eagles will also attractvisitors/tourists.10. Business leaders have a way of attracting other business leaders. These Lone Eagles will be theregion’s ambassadors for new investment.Figure 14 depicts the business establishments that are classified as having no employees (the bestavailable approximation for Lone Eagles). The establishments in the “no employees” category include theself-employed <strong>and</strong> cottage industries, (i.e. those who do not maintain an employee payroll, but may havea workforce consisting of contracted workers, family members or business owners). In June 2009, 4,077(59.5%) business establishments in the region were classified as having no employees.
