Detail may notadd to totals because <strong>of</strong> rounding.Runaway Cases■■Among the five major status <strong>of</strong>fensecategories, juvenile courts were mostlikely to order youth to out-<strong>of</strong>-homeplacement following adjudication inrunaway cases (78 <strong>of</strong> 431 cases), butformal probation was a more likelyoutcome (258 <strong>of</strong> 431).Among petitioned runaway cases in2005, youth were not adjudicated astatus <strong>of</strong>fender in 569 <strong>of</strong> a typical1,000 cases. Of these 569 cases,most (87%) were dismissed.Truancy Cases■In 2005, <strong>of</strong> a typical 1,000 formal truancycases, 347 resulted in formalprobation <strong>and</strong> 59 were placed out <strong>of</strong>the home.Curfew Violation Cases■■In 2005, for every 1,000 petitionedcurfew violation cases, 130 resultedin formal probation following adjudication<strong>and</strong> 20 were placed out <strong>of</strong> thehome.Among petitioned cases involvingcurfew violations in 2005, youth werenot adjudicated a status <strong>of</strong>fender in304 <strong>of</strong> a typical 1,000 cases. Ofthese 304 cases, 85% (257) weredismissed.Ungovernability Cases■For every 1,000 petitioned ungovernabilitycases in 2005, 74% (409)resulted in formal probation followingadjudication <strong>and</strong> 17% (96) wereplaced out <strong>of</strong> the home.Liquor Law Violation Cases■■Among petitioned liquor law violationcases in 2005, the most likely outcomewas formal probation (319 <strong>of</strong>1,000); out-<strong>of</strong>-home placement wasordered in 52 <strong>of</strong> a typical 1,000 cases.In 2005, among petitioned liquor lawviolation cases, youth were not adjudicatedas status <strong>of</strong>fenders in 324 <strong>of</strong>a typical 1,000 cases.<strong>Juvenile</strong> <strong>Court</strong> <strong>Statistics</strong> 2005 91
