Chapter 3: National Estimates <strong>of</strong> Delinquency Case ProcessingWaiverAge■■■In 2005, 1.3% <strong>of</strong> all petitioned delinquencycases involving juveniles age16 or older were waived to criminalcourt, compared with 0.2% <strong>of</strong> casesinvolving younger juveniles.For older juveniles, the probability <strong>of</strong>waiver peaked in 1991 at 3.1%, hoveredaround that level through 1994,declined to 1.4% by 2000, <strong>and</strong>remained relatively stable at thatlevel through <strong>2005.</strong>This pattern was most marked inwaivers for older juveniles chargedwith drug <strong>of</strong>fenses, which peaked at6.4% in 1991 <strong>and</strong> then steadilydeclined to 1.2% in 2001. In 2005,0.8% <strong>of</strong> petitioned drug <strong>of</strong>fensecases involving males were judiciallywaived.Judicially waived drug <strong>of</strong>fense casesinvolving females followed the samepattern.
