<strong>Maritime</strong> <strong>Labour</strong> <strong>Convention</strong>, 2006DEPOSITARY FUNCTIONSArticle XI1. The Director-General of the International <strong>Labour</strong> Office shall notify allMembers of the International <strong>Labour</strong> Organization of the registration of all ratifications,acceptances <strong>and</strong> denunciations under this <strong>Convention</strong>.2. When the conditions provided for in paragraph 3 of Article VIII have beenfulfilled, the Director-General shall draw the attention of the Members of the Organizationto the date upon which the <strong>Convention</strong> will come into force.Article XIIThe Director-General of the International <strong>Labour</strong> Office shall communicate tothe Secretary-General of the United Nations for registration in accordance with Article102 of the Charter of the United Nations full particulars of all ratifications, acceptances<strong>and</strong> denunciations registered under this <strong>Convention</strong>.SPECIAL TRIPARTITE COMMITTEEArticle XIII1. The Governing Body of the International <strong>Labour</strong> Office shall keep the workingof this <strong>Convention</strong> under continuous review through a committee established by itwith special competence in the area of maritime labour st<strong>and</strong>ards.2. For matters dealt with in accordance with this <strong>Convention</strong>, the Committeeshall consist of two representatives nominated by the Government of each Memberwhich has ratified this <strong>Convention</strong>, <strong>and</strong> the representatives of Shipowners <strong>and</strong> Seafarersappointed by the Governing Body after consultation with the Joint <strong>Maritime</strong>Commission.3. The Government representatives of Members which have not yet ratifiedthis <strong>Convention</strong> may participate in the Committee but shall have no right to vote onany matter dealt with in accordance with this <strong>Convention</strong>. The Governing Body mayinvite other organizations or entities to be represented on the Committee by observers.4. The votes of each Shipowner <strong>and</strong> Seafarer representative in the Committeeshall be weighted so as to ensure that the Shipowners’ group <strong>and</strong> the Seafarers’ groupeach have half the voting power of the total number of governments which are representedat the meeting concerned <strong>and</strong> entitled to vote.AMENDMENT OF THIS CONVENTIONArticle XIV1. Amendments to any of the provisions of this <strong>Convention</strong> may be adopted bythe General Conference of the International <strong>Labour</strong> Organization in the frameworkof article 19 of the Constitution of the International <strong>Labour</strong> Organisation <strong>and</strong> the rules<strong>and</strong> procedures of the Organization for the adoption of <strong>Convention</strong>s. Amendments tothe Code may also be adopted following the procedures in Article XV.8
