This session will discuss the newest information in the care of the older adult with type 2 diabetes. The approach to the older adult includes polypharmacy and co-morbidities, as well as issues with cognitive dysfunction, special senses, and motor coordination. Infectious complications will also be discussed. 6 – 8:30 p.m. Hospitality Hop Note: All Hospitality Hop rooms are located at the Four Points Sheraton Hospitality through the years! Juli has been recognized by her state as Artist of the Year because of her ability to help improve people’s lives through humor and the effective use of communication tools. She has worked in all 48 continental United States and Canada, and has been commissioned by a variety of associations from the National Endowment of the Arts to Fortune 500 companies to develop training programs that stick. Her humor is delightful, universal and enlightening with whatever topic she presents. 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (7 CEs) Alzheimer’s and Dementia Seminar Dee Mayfield, CDP, TIPs-trainer, Mayfield Health Care Seminars Track MULTI Pre-registration is required. See registration form on page 44. The Alzheimer’s and Dementia Seminar is a pre-requisite for anyone who would like to be a certified dementia practitioner with the National Council of Certified Dementia Practitioners. The seminar is interactive and covers the following topics: Introduction to Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, communications, feelings and repetitive behaviors, wandering, hallucinations, paranoia, aggressive behaviors, pain management and alternatives, cultural issues, activities, spiritual, sexual, and end of life. Participants must stay the entire day to receive certification for this seminar - and an application to NCCDP.
