Brian Dimit, EHR, CCHIT, RAC-CT, BS, PointClickCare
Track SUP
Without question, the long term care workforce is becoming increasingly diverse. While historically dominated by the
Baby Boomer generation, the average age of the long term care worker is slowly and steadily dropping. Now, more than
ever, this new and blended workforce requires a revised employee recruitment and retention strategy that appeals to
generations, both young and old. This session will explore methods of staff retention as well as the use of technology to
attract and retain next-generation workers in order to develop and implement strategies that appeal to all audiences.
The Curbside Fix: Team Play with Adverse Financial Affects
Cheryl Ben-David, DPT, McGladrey
Track ADM
Every day in skilled nursing homes across the country, good intentions steeped in the spirit of interdepartmental
collaboration and quality care, prevent skilled nursing facilities from capturing the skilled resources utilized in the
delivery of that care. As a direct consequence facilities forfeit billing and payments associated with rendering skilled
services. Medicare reimbursement reductions nearing 11% have prompted facilities to escalate efforts toward improving
operational efficiency. Often missed is the clinical practice of curbside fixes.
