WHITEHEADAlthough transportation difficulties greatly curtailed intercollegiatedeba te during the past year, Idaho a t tempted to carryout a near-complete schedule. The Vandal debaters opened theseason early in December at Walla Walla in a tri-angular meetwi th Whitman and Washington State. T hey competed in atournament conducted by Washington State at Pullman , andlater played host to W.S.C., Whitman, and Lewiston StateNormal at the annual Inland Empire junior college tournament.To close the season an Idaho team was sent to McMinnville,Oregon, to compete in the Linfield College tournamen t,one of the biggest of the year.The collegiate debate question this year was, Resolved: "Thatthe governmen t should levy a five per cen t consumers' salesand service tax." All Idaho teams debated p ro and con on thequestion.126
