The 'muralists argued theq uestion, Resolved: "That the federal governmentshould adopt a five per cen t sales andconsumers' tax."Six teams-Delta Gamma, Gamma P hi Beta,Alpha Chi Omega, Alphi P hi, Kappa AlphaTheta, a nd Forney Hall - entered the women'stournamen t, which was open to all universitywomen who had not previously participated inintramural debate at Idaho or in other collegiatecompetition.Forney H all's winning team was composed128of Elaine Anderson and Evea Harrington. BettyEchternach a nd Doris Mae H olz, Gamma Phientry, were runners-up.Members of the S.A.E. team, men 's champions,were Bill Edmark and Dick Minden,who defeated P hi Gamma Delta in the tournamentfinals. K ay Richardson and B ill Bergesonwere the F iji's second-place team.Other teams en tered in the men's competition,which was conducted on a double eliminationbasis, were Idaho C lub, Kappa Sigma,Beta Theta P i, and Sigma Nu.Borth Forney H all and Sigma Alpha Epsilonwere awarded cups by Delta Sigma R ho. Thedebates were judged by varsity debaters a ndfaculty members.
