Usool al Hadith - Forever Islam

The Mu’annan is a hadeeth in which the conjunction أ َن َّ anna (that) is usedthroughout the sanad. The Mu’annan is classified in the same way as themu‘an‘an.II. DEFECTS IN THE NARRATORDefects in the transmitter are a result of 10 factors, five of which are connected to‘Adaalah (trust worthiness) and five to Dabt (accuracy).A. The factors related to ‘Adaalah are if a narrator is: 1. A liar; 2. Accused oflying; 3. Immoral; 4. An innovator in religious principles and 5. Obscure.B. The factors related to Dabt are if a narrator is: 1. Excessive in his errors; 2.Weak of memory; 3. Negligent; 4. Known for a lot of misinterpretations and5. Known to contradict reliable reporters.The following are the rejected hadeeth due to the above-mentioned defects in thenarrators starting with the most serious defects.Mawdoo‘ (Fabricated)If the defect in the narrator is that he is known to lie on the Prophet (r), hishadeeths are classified as Mawdoo‘. Technically, a mawdoo‘ narration is not ahadeeth at all, but a lie attributed to The Prophet (r). It is referred to as a hadeethfiguratively.Al-Bayqoonee defined it in his poetry as follows:وال ْك َذِب ال ْمختل َق ال ْمصنوعة ُ *عل َى النبِي ف َذ َلِك ال ْموضوعAnd the invented fabricated lie * on the Prophet, that is the forgeryThe Ruling Concerning Its NarrationIt is the consensus of opinion of the scholar that it is not permissible to narratesuch a “hadeeth” without pointing out that it is fabricated. This is based on thehadeeth collected by Muslim(( من حدث َ عني بِحدِيثٍ‏ يرى أ َنه ك َ ذِب ف َهو أ َحد ال ْك َاذِبِ‏ ين ))
