Hisresponsibilities include managing the <strong>Department</strong>’sInformation Technology Directorate (ITD) <strong>and</strong> a number<strong>of</strong> high-pr<strong>of</strong>ile projects, including Connected ClassroomsProgram, Learning Management <strong>and</strong> Business Reform(LMBR) Program <strong>and</strong> technical leadership <strong>of</strong> the Digital<strong>Education</strong> Revolution.CIO magazine has ranked the information <strong>and</strong>communications technology (ICT) environment withinthe <strong>Department</strong>, the largest <strong>and</strong> most comprehensivein Australia with over 96,000 employees, 1.2 millionstudents <strong>and</strong> over 350,000 devices, as Australia’sNo. 1 ICT organisation.During 2009, Mr Wilson provided leadership inthe provision <strong>of</strong> state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art information <strong>and</strong>communications technologies to students <strong>and</strong> teachers in<strong>NSW</strong> government schools <strong>and</strong> TAFE colleges. This includedthe provision <strong>of</strong> computers to government schools as part<strong>of</strong> the ongoing Technology for Learning Program with thedelivery <strong>of</strong> in excess <strong>of</strong> 35,000 new computers <strong>and</strong> theprovision for the first time <strong>of</strong> over 16,000 laptops for useby secondary school staff.Mr Wilson was the chief architect <strong>of</strong> the <strong>NSW</strong>Government’s plan to provide one laptop computerto every Year 9-12 <strong>NSW</strong> government school studentto support the Commonwealth Government’s Digital<strong>Education</strong> Revolution. This $442 million project will seeover 200,000 laptops distributed across more than 500APPENDICES 97
