Mr. Persons replaces Mr. BobMartin who served us well, but has decided to move on to otheradventures. Mr. Persons assumes his new role with a wealth of Metrologyexpertise. He attended the Basic Metrology course (Army side) atLowry AFB, CO, and graduated in December 1980. He then went on towork in calibration laboratories at various locations throughout theUnited States and Europe, to include a deployment during OperationDesert Storm. In 1994 he was directly involved in relocating the ArmyPMEL schoolhouse and Army Detachment from Lowry to Keesler.Once at Keesler, he served as the Army 1 st Sgt and retired from activeduty in April 1996. In October 1996, he obtained a civil service positionas an instructor in the <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong> PMEL Basic Apprentice Course. Hetaught various blocks throughout the Basic Course until he waspromoted to a Training Specialist position in June 2005. In this capacityhe managed the Phys/D Course, then the TACAN Course, and mostrecently the PMEL Basic Apprentice Course.We are pleased to have a Training Manager with solid PMEL and instructor backgrounds. Mr. Persons’primary goal is to continue to improve the quality of training at Keesler. He is committed to producing bothoutstanding PMEL apprentices and providing critical Advance Measurement Courses that meet our field’sneeds. One of Joe’s first challenges will be to help shape our career field by hosting our Utilization &Training Workshop in April 2011.
