African Development E<strong>co</strong>nomic ConsultantsADECNMMU is part of the DST and NRF Centre of Excellence (DNCoE) inStrong Materials (a major SA research network). Through the DNCoE,postgraduate students at NMMU interact with researchers from other SAuniversities in the disciplines of physics, chemistry, ceramics, metallurgy, andchemical and mechanical engineering.CheminChemin has developed mainly as an incubator for the low-tech chemicalsindustry because the SMMEs <strong>co</strong>nducting higher-level chemicals research arenot focused in the Nelson Mandela Bay region. Chemin is involved in a numberof <strong>co</strong>llaborative efforts with the public and private sector. Chemin makes most ofthe project-related <strong>co</strong>llaborations on behalf of the incubator tenants.
