African Development Economic ConsultantsADECNMMU is part of the DST and NRF Centre of Excellence (DNCoE) inStrong Materials (a major SA research network). Through the DNCoE,postgraduate students at NMMU interact with researchers from other SAuniversities in the disciplines of physics, chemistry, ceramics, metallurgy, andchemical and mechanical engineering.CheminChemin has developed mainly as an incubator for the low-tech chemicalsindustry because the SMMEs conducting higher-level chemicals research arenot focused in the Nelson Mandela Bay region. Chemin is involved in a numberof collaborative efforts with the public and private sector. Chemin makes most ofthe project-related collaborations on behalf of the incubator tenants. Some of thatresearch, as well as collaborations between NMMU, the local CSIR, or Cheminand the private sector, are described elsewhere in this section.
