African Development E<strong>co</strong>nomic ConsultantsADECOne of the key targets of the 2004-2014 PGDP is to diversify and grow theprovince’s manufacturing sector. To date, the province is on target withmanufacturing employment growth occurring at a rapid pace. However, thisgrowth is not <strong>co</strong>nsistent among all parts of the province. OR Tambo (160.2%),Alfred Nzo (45.0%), uKhahlamba (26.4%), Chris Hani (23.7%), and Cacadu(14.3%) districts are currently expanding their resident manufacturingemployment levels at a faster pace than Nelson Mandela Bay Metro (4.1%).Provincial GDP. Community Services also dominates provincial GDP,with 27.3% of the total provincial output. FIRE generates the se<strong>co</strong>nd-highestshare of GDP (20.7%), even though it ac<strong>co</strong>unts for just 17% of employment.Manufacturing and Trade are the other major <strong>co</strong>ntributors towards the GDP ofthe Eastern Cape Province.
