ETHIOPIAContinuously present in Ethiopia since 1977, the ICRCprioritizes protecting and assisting people detained, displacedor otherwise affected by the 1998–2000 international armedconflict with Eritrea or by other armed conflicts. It helps topreserve the livelihoods of conflict-affected communities,which also often grapple with natural disaster, and supportsphysical rehabilitation services. It visits detainees and restoresfamily links, particularly for relatives separated by the closedEthiopia-Eritrea border, ensuring compliance with IHL withregard to any persons still protected by the Third and FourthGeneva Conventions.
