PAKISTANThe ICRC began working in Pakistan in 1981 to assist victimsof the armed conflict in Afghanistan and continues to supportoperations there. Its dialogue with the authorities aims toencourage the provision of care for violence-affected people,particularly the weapon-wounded. It fosters discussions onthe humanitarian impact of violence and on neutral andindependent humanitarian action with the government,religious leaders and academics.
