2.1 Eligibility:Applicants must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada. This programis open to senior independent dance artists (recognized as such by their peers for theircontribution to the development of the art form), Canadian dance companies, andcollectives or other valid structures employing professional dance artists. Note that theCanada Council defines a professional artist as someone who has specialized trainingin the field (not necessarily in academic institutions), who is recognized by her/his peers(artists working in the same artistic tradition) and who has a history of publicpresentation. All dance forms (classical, contemporary, First Peoples, folk, jazz,modem, traditional) of all world cultures are eligible for support.2.2 Value of Grant:One-year (annual) or three-year (multi-year) funding is available. Grant levels will reflectthe relative contribution of the applicant to the development of the art form, asdetermined by relative artistic merit, and the considerations listed above. The availabilityof funds will also be a determining factor.2.3 How to Apply:Because the Dance Section needs to conduct artistic assessments on potentialapplicants over at least one season of activities, it is essential that applicants contactthe Dance Section approximately one year in advance of the deadline date.
