ENGINE ADJUSTMENTSNOTE: <strong>WESTERBEKE</strong> recommends that the following engineadjustments be performed by a competent engine mechanic.The information below is provided to assist the mechanic.Crankshaft Bolt Removal1. Lock the crankshaft in position.NOTE: Do not turn the crankshaft.2. Remove the crankshaft bolt.Flange Installation1. Mount the flange so that its side shown by the heavyarrow in the illustration faces toward the sprocket.FLANGEBEARINGTiming Belt InspectionReplace the belt if any of the following conditions exist:1. Hardening of back rubber-back side is glossy, withoutresilience, and leaves no indent when pressed with fingernail.2. Cracks on rubber back.3. Cracks or peeling of canvas.4. Cracks on tooth bottom.5. Cracks on belt.6. Abnormal wear of belt sides. The sides are normal ifthey are sharp as if cut by a knife.7. Abnormal wear on teeth.8. Tooth missing and canvas fiber exposed.Crankshaft Bolt Installation1. Lock the crankshaft.NOTE: Do not turn the crankshaft.SPROCKET2. Tighten the crankshaft bolt to the specified torque.Oil Pump Sprocket Flange Nut Installation1. Insert a round bar into the plug hole in the left side of thecylinder block to keep the counterbalance shaft from turning.2. Install the oil pump sprocket.3.
