NEWFOUNDLAND/LABRADORSister Susan AshBrother & Sister Elks:I would like to take this opportunity to thank myfellow Brother and Sister Elks of Newfoundland &Labrador who attended the semi annual meetingin October. At this meeting we discuss severalideas for a project for the Provincial Association. It was decided that we would have further discussionat the annual meeting in April 2012. Thisgives us all time to think about the project. As Istated in my previous message, this projectshould identify and develop our members asLeaders, we should have fun with it and ourAssociation will be stronger. It was also recommended,at the meeting, that all the Lodges ofNewfoundland would donate $100.00 per memberto the Elks and Royal Purple Fund forChildren as it is the Elks 100 th Anniversary.During my visits to your Lodges I hope we candevelop a plan to achieve both endeavors thusmaking our Association the best or even thegreatest. As Newfies and Elks we can do anythingwe feel strongly about. At the Provincial President’s meeting in Regina, Iwas very fortunate to attend a fantastic workshopon Leadership. It was titled “Leadership isEveryone’s Business”. Leadership is everyone’sbusiness consists of five principles/practices.When you think about it, all of us are practicingthese principles in our professional life, our personallife and our Elk life. It will be my goal to utilizethese practices as we develop, plan andimplement our Project. When we are successfulwith our project and raising funds for the Elks andRoyal Purple Fund for Children, we will havebeen successful in practicing these principles. Wewill be able to take these practices back to ourLodges and help make our Lodges stronger inour Communities. As promised, I will visit each of the Lodges inNewfoundland. I am available to assist you. I wishyou all the best for the New Year. May it be a successful, joyful New Year with great happiness.Take care.Fraternally,Susan Ash, PresidentNewfoundland & Labrador Elks AssociationPLAN TO ATTEND THE GRAND LODGE CONVENTIONJULY 24 - 26, 2012 IN CHILLIWACK BC.MAKE IT A FAMILY VACATION - CHECK PAGES 28 & 29FOR ALL OF THE INTERESTING THINGS TO SEE AND DO.19
