KINDERSLEY ELKS LODGE NO. 492Kindersley Elks Lodge No. 492 had the opportunity toparticipate in a Student Leadership Conference that washeld from September 19 to 23, 2011 in Kindersley at theKCS School. The conference invited students from allover Saskatchewan. There were 750 registered delegates and their chaperoneswith all of the participants billeted out to local residentsof Kindersley. We were fortunate enough to have our display set up close tothe incoming door, where we had many individuals stop at our display and ask lotsof questions. Most were surprised that the Elks accepts both male and female intoour Order. We had one individual come to us that had benefited from the Elks and Royal Purple Fund for Children, and was very thankful for the opportunity to talk to Elk members. Sister Rose Niles and Brother GaryHamilton looked after the display. Both are long time members of the Order. At the end of the day, we bothfelt that this was the best project the Kindersley Elks have done in a long time. We feel that there is interestout there, and all we need to do is tap the supply. Next year this Conference will be held in Watrous atWinston High School, and we advise this is a worthwhile activity to participate in.The Kindersley Elks Lodge have made their annual donations for the 2011 year.Pictured is Gary Hamilton, Treasurer of the Elks Lodge, presenting a cheque for$5,000.00 to Denise Cooke, Acting Town Administrator.
