In addition, BrotherJim Simmons gave a financial account of assistanceprovided by the Brandon Lodge by needy families. It isworthy to note that from 1992-2010, approximately$57,000 has been contributed to the Elks and RoyalPurple Fund for Children by Brandon Elks No. 14.The longest original member George Strange andthe newest member Donna Ewasiuk cutting thecake.On October 22, 2011, Brandon Elks No. 14 heldtheir 85 th Anniversary at the Ukrainian ReadingHall. One hundred and thirty people attended theevent, including present and past Elks, City andProvincial Politicians and guests. Grand ExaltedRuler, Jerry Wernicke was also in attendance.Everyone enjoyed a sumptuous meal catered by theUkrainian Hall Ladies. At the conclusion of the meal,the Mayor of Brandon brought greetings from the City.The Provincial President of the Manitoba Elks and theGrand Exalted Ruler also brought greetings to thegathering.Brother Harold Roberds gave a brief summary of theLodges that were in attendance included: Brandon;Carberry; Neepawa; Gladstone; Souris; Killarney andWinnipeg. The entertainment for the evening was providedby “Inclinations” and was a nostalgic look back atthe music and life of Patsy Cline.
