THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING ISTARI would like to thank you for your support of ISTAR. Our son, Liam, was involved in the Young Teen IntensiveClinic this past summer. He has had a stutter since he was a young boy, and it had regressed to the pointwhere basic school activities were becoming very difficult. Liam was reluctant to speak in public, afraid to askor answer questions in class, and very fearful of any request for public speaking. Communication at homewas also becoming challenging to the point where Liam would halt in mid-sentence and be unable to continuespeaking. Teenage years are difficult at best, but to mix in the debilitating consequences of stutteringmakes life a daily grid that is unfathomable for those who do not stutter.The clinic at ISTAR gave Liam, and our family, a new ray of hope with tools and education to move forwardin a positive and constructive manner. As parents, we are now better able to work with Liam to manage hisspeech and to boost his confidence. After the three-week clinic, Liam's speech progressed to the point wherehe could confidently ask a question to a stranger either by phone or in person and confidently deliver a speechto a room full of people. We realize that the on-going maintenance of the skills and techniques learned atISTAR are the key for Liam's fluent speech pathway and that life-long hard work and dedication will bring Liamsuccess. Our challenge now as a family is to map the way forward and to best optimize the utilization of ournew found knowledge.Your generous support of ISTAR has certainly touched our family in a positive way.
