Many dignitaries, guests and<strong>Elks</strong> and Royal Purple Lodges from all over the islandwere in attendance for this momentous occasion. Abrief history <strong>of</strong> the Nanaimo <strong>Elks</strong> was given by DenisHeppelle, Secretary-Treasurer <strong>of</strong> the Lodge. A speech<strong>of</strong> congratulations and thanks for the work the <strong>Elks</strong> doin the community was given by Mayor John Ruttanand MP Leonard Krog. Grand Exalted Ruler, JerryWernicke spoke on the need to get more peopleinvolved in the <strong>Elks</strong> and presented a plaque <strong>of</strong> recognitionto Exalted Ruler Kay Heuer. Exalted Ruler Kaypresented cheques <strong>of</strong> $1,000.00 each for the Fund forChildren and BC Camps. A dance followed dinner andpresentation speeches.SALMON ARM <strong>ELK</strong>S LODGENO. 455 CELEBRATED50 YEARSOn April 23, 2011, Salmon Arm <strong>Elks</strong> LodgeNo. 455 celebrated their 50th anniversary.
