Donations werepresented to the Alberta <strong>Elks</strong> Foundation and the<strong>Elks</strong> and Royal Purple Fund for Children.CARBERRY <strong>ELK</strong>S LODGE NO. 466 CELEBRATES 50 YEARSOn October 28 th , 2011, Grand Exalted Ruler BrotherJerry Wernicke was on hand to help celebrate our 50thAnniversary which is a momentous occasion in the life<strong>of</strong> the Carberry Lodge. We have four charter membersstill active in the club. The original Installing <strong>of</strong>ficerPast Provincial President, Brother Merv Drayson, wason hand to present 50 year pins to these four remainingcharter members.a catered meal after which Brother Byron Steen aptlydelivered a 50 year history <strong>of</strong> the Carberry Lodge andthe many contributions to the community. He summedup his presentation with this statement. “Where there isa worthy cause, you will find a worthy Elk trying tohelp”.There were congratulatory messages from the manydignitaries present as well as service pin presentationsfor years <strong>of</strong> service and a $500.00 cheque presentedto GER Wernicke for the Fund for Children.Past Provincial President Brother Byron Steen;Installing Officer Past Provincial President BrotherMerv Drayson; Brother Neil Olmstead; Brother GeraldOlmstead; Brother Bert Olmstead and Grand ExaltedRuler, Brother Jerry Wernicke.Of note is the fact that there were seven Olmsteads ascharter members and we still have 3 active to this day.The evening began with a meet and greet followed byGrand Exalted Ruler Jerry Wernicke (r), presented a50th anniversary plaque from the National Office toBrother Don McIntosh (l), honoring Carberry <strong>Elks</strong>Lodge for 50 years <strong>of</strong> service.27
