Donations werepresented to the Alberta Elks Foundation and theElks and Royal Purple Fund for Children.CARBERRY ELKS LODGE NO. 466 CELEBRATES 50 YEARSOn October 28 th , 2011, Grand Exalted Ruler BrotherJerry Wernicke was on hand to help celebrate our 50thAnniversary which is a momentous occasion in the lifeof the Carberry Lodge. We have four charter membersstill active in the club. The original Installing officerPast Provincial President, Brother Merv Drayson, wason hand to present 50 year pins to these four remainingcharter members.a catered meal after which Brother Byron Steen aptlydelivered a 50 year history of the Carberry Lodge andthe many contributions to the community. He summedup his presentation with this statement. “Where there isa worthy cause, you will find a worthy Elk trying tohelp”.There were congratulatory messages from the manydignitaries present as well as service pin presentationsfor years of service and a $500.00 cheque presentedto GER Wernicke for the Fund for Children.Past Provincial President Brother Byron Steen;Installing Officer Past Provincial President BrotherMerv Drayson; Brother Neil Olmstead; Brother GeraldOlmstead; Brother Bert Olmstead and Grand ExaltedRuler, Brother Jerry Wernicke.Of note is the fact that there were seven Olmsteads ascharter members and we still have 3 active to this day.The evening began with a meet and greet followed byGrand Exalted Ruler Jerry Wernicke (r), presented a50th anniversary plaque from the National Office toBrother Don McIntosh (l), honoring Carberry ElksLodge for 50 years of service.27
