All applicants are asked to take acatering skills scan.THE COURSEThis course will introduce students to basic cookeryand customer care skills and help develop good workand organisational practices. It is suitable for thosewho need to gain more confidence in their abilitiesof food handling and professional aptitude, beforeprogressing to the Diploma in Professional Catering.This course is designed to give you a basicunderstanding of cookery and food service withapplied knowledge and skills. You will be introducedto basic cookery and customer care skills and theopportunity to develop good working practices. Youwill work in <strong>The</strong> <strong>College</strong>’s well equipped trainingkitchens and in the Coastline Coffee Shop.Your study includes: Level 1 certificate in GeneralFood & Beverage Service, Level 1 certificate inGeneral Cookery, Level 1 award in General FrontOffice Operations and Functional skills in English,mathematics and ICT at the appropriate level. Inaddition, you will have to take the Level 2 Food SafetyCertificate.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONYou will need to have access to a camera to create aportfolio of your work.NEXT STEPProgression to the Diploma in Professional catering,BTEC level 2 Certificate in Hospitality or toemployment or apprenticeship training.VRQ LEVEL 1/2 DIPLOMA INPROFESSIONAL CATERINGBASED AT: LANSDOWNECOURSE LEVEL: LEVEL 1/2ENTRY REQUIREMENTSA minimum of 3 GCSEs at grades A* - D includingEnglish and mathematics.
