80Mediafull time prospectus 2013/14Mediafull time prospectus 2013/1481LEVEL 1 ROUTE TO BUSINESS, LEISUREor CREATIVE STUDIESBASED AT: NORTH ROAD, POOLE ANDLANSDOWNE, BOURNEMOUTHCOURSE LEVEL: LEVEL 1ENTRY REQUIREMENTSYou will require a minimum of 2 GCSE passes orsuccessful completion of a Foundation Entry Level 3.You will be invited in to interview.THE COURSEThis is an exciting new course designed to give youthe opportunity to try out different vocational routeswhilst developing work, study and life skills.Following one of the pathways will help you prepareyourself for further college courses by gaining anationally recognised qualification made up ofVocational, Personal and Social Development units.The routes are:• Business, Retail and ICT• IT, Tourism and Sport• Performing Arts, Music and MediaYou will also be given lots of support to improve yourskills in:• English• Mathematics• IT• Life Skills (working as a team, communicationsand employability skills)You can build your employability skills and trydifferent subjects to enable you to progress onto anapprenticeship, or to another course at The College toboost your job prospects.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONYou will be offered lots of friendly support andencouragement with your studies. As a full timestudent within the Routes course, you will havethe continuous support of a personal tutor andwill receive ongoing one to one tutorials. Yourpersonal tutor will review your progress towards theachievement of your main qualification aim and helpyou deal with any personal and academic issues thatmay occur.NEXT STEPOn successful completion you could progress onto aLevel 2 course at The College, an Apprenticeship orinto employment.BTEC LEVEL 2 CREATIVE MEDIA STUDIESBASED AT: CONSTITUTION HILL, POOLECOURSE LEVEL: LEVEL 2ENTRY REQUIREMENTSYou will need a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D orabove - one of which must be English (preferablyLanguage). You should demonstrate an active interestin media studies.THE COURSEYou will explore the creative digital world by makingfilms using single camera techniques, creatinggraphic design products and producing 2D animationproductions. The course is largely practical whichgives a broad range of skills and has been developedto focus on the creative media sector providingvocational related education for learners to achievea nationally recognised Level 2 qualification. It alsoprovides opportunities for learners to develop skills,knowledge and understanding relevant to the mediaindustries, including analysing media products andtheir audiences.This course combines all aspects of media includingvideo, radio and digital photography.
