SPORTSPORT110 111full time prospectus 2013/14full time prospectus 2013/14<strong>The</strong> Football Coaching Academy is run in conjunctionwith AFC <strong>Bournemouth</strong> and provides an opportunityto gain nationally recognised qualifications in Sport,and an accredited Football Association Certificate incoaching football.You will train alongside AFC <strong>Bournemouth</strong> coaches andfootball professionals to develop your coaching skillsand participate in community football programmes aswell as developing your knowledge across sport with<strong>College</strong> lecturers.Students take their FA Level 1 coaching awardalongside studying Sport at Level 1.You will study a range of units such as taking part insport, assisting at a sport and leisure event, improvingown fitness, risks and hazards, planning a fitnessprogramme, assisting a leader of an activity, working insports and leisure.You will also cover a range of units in coaching– understanding the principles of planning andconducting coaching activity, fundamentals of coachingand evaluating coaching.Your lessons will take place at both AFC <strong>Bournemouth</strong>and the Lansdowne Campus.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONYou will achieve a set of qualifications which includeFA Level 1 coaching, Level 1 Award in Principles ofCoaching, First Aid and Safeguarding.You will be encouraged to volunteer in a coachingcapacity with support from AFCB Community officecontacts in schools, local clubs etc.NEXT STEPOn successful completion you can progress at <strong>The</strong><strong>College</strong> to a Level 2 Diploma in Sport within theFootball Coaching Academy, a BTEC Level 2 Diploma inSport or other related Level 2 course.Alternatively you may progress to employment orapprenticeship training in the sport and active leisureindustry.LEVEL 2 FOOTBALL COACHINGACADEMYBASED AT: AFC BOURNEMOUTH ANDLANSDOWNE, BOURNEMOUTHCOURSE LEVEL: LEVEL 2ENTRY REQUIREMENTSA minimum of 3 GCSE grades A* - D including Englishor equivalent to BTEC Level 1 and appropriate Englishqualification.You should demonstrate a genuine interest in footballcoaching.We will discuss your interests, experience andambitions at interview.THE COURSEA one year course for those with an interest in footballcoaching and sport.<strong>The</strong> Football Coaching Academy is run in conjunctionwith AFC <strong>Bournemouth</strong> and provides an opportunityto gain nationally recognised qualifications in Sport,and an accredited Football Association Certificate incoaching football.You will train alongside AFC <strong>Bournemouth</strong> coaches andfootball professionals to develop your coaching skillsand participate in community football programmes aswell as developing your knowledge across sport with<strong>College</strong> lecturers at the Lansdowne site.Students take their FA Level 1 or 2 coaching award(depending on previous attainment) alongside studyingSport at Level 2.You will study a range of units such as practical sport,planning and leading sports activities, fitness testingand training, technical and tactical skills, injury in sport,development of personal fitness and planning andrunning a sports event.You will also cover a range of units in coaching– understanding the principles of planning andconducting coaching activity, fundamentals of coachingand evaluating coaching.Your lessons will take place at both AFC <strong>Bournemouth</strong>and the Lansdowne Campus.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONYou will achieve a set of qualifications which include FALevel 1 or 2 Coaching, First Aid and Safeguarding.You will be encouraged to volunteer in a coachingcapacity with support from AFCB Community officecontacts in schools, local clubs etc.NEXT STEPYou may progress to employment or apprenticeshiptraining in the sport and active leisure industry.LEVEL 1/2 FOOTBALL PERFORMANCEACADEMYBASED AT: WIMBORNE TOWN FC andLANSDOWNE, BOURNEMOUTHCOURSE LEVEL: MIXED LEVELENTRY REQUIREMENTSEntry will be by selection process including aperformance based trial. You will require a minimum of2 GCSE passes.We will discuss your interests, experience andambitions at interview.THE COURSE<strong>The</strong> Football Performance Academy is run inconjunction with Wimborne Town FC and providesa unique opportunity to train and play competitivefootball, alongside studying for nationally recognisedqualifications in Sport, and an accredited FootballAssociation Certificate in football leadership.You will study a range of units such as participatingin sport, working safely in sport and active leisure,leading a healthy lifestyle, recognising opportunities forparticipating in leisure, improving personal exercise andfitness, safeguarding and protecting children in sportand active leisure.You will also cover a range of units in coaching– understanding the principles of planning andconducting coaching activity, fundamentals of coachingand evaluating coaching.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONYou will achieve a set of qualifications which includesFirst Aid and Safeguarding.www.thecollege.co.uk<strong>The</strong> <strong>College</strong> helpline 01202 205 205
