An exciting new course for buddingentrepreneurs is to be added to the growinglist of business-focused courses available at<strong>Bournemouth</strong> and <strong>Poole</strong> <strong>College</strong>.<strong>The</strong> course, inspired by Dragon’s Den punditand business visionary Peter Jones CBE, will belike no other college course, and is aimed at thebrightest most forward thinking young peoplewho want to prove they have what it takes to turna business idea into reality.Planning for the course, which will be basedat the Lansdowne campus in the centre of<strong>Bournemouth</strong>, is already well-advanced.Jenifer Salahuddin, the <strong>College</strong>’s Head ofBusiness and Professional Studies, is excitedabout the prospects for the new venture whichwill operate under auspices of the college fromSeptember but will form part of the Peter JonesEnterprise Academy.<strong>The</strong> <strong>College</strong> has just received officialconfirmation to run the course franchise andstudents will be invited to submit applications inthe spring.What will mark this business course as differentis that applicants will be expected to have uniquequalities and a ‘go-getter’ attitude.While they will be students pursuing aLevel 3 BTEC Diploma in Enterprise andEntrepreneurship, they will also be expectedto have the potential mind-set of genuineentrepreneurs.Candidates are already likely to have the germof an idea or ideas for a business venture whenthey come for interview and, from day one, willbe expected to see themselves as creative thinkerson projects which may lead to commercialexpression – possibly even the creation of theirown business enterprise.<strong>The</strong> course structure is business-led and involvespartnerships with a range of companies andentrepreneurs providing leadership and hands-onbusiness experience.As Jenifer Salahuddin says: “We are expectingto enroll ambitious, imaginative, young peoplewith the type of vision you see in the TV seriessuch as <strong>The</strong> Apprentice, <strong>The</strong> Young Apprenticeand Dragon’s Den. “<strong>The</strong> course will be set up tocreate the feeling that the students are workingin a real business environment. Designs forthe contemporary office styled classrooms arealready underway.
