Category No.8- Liquid Waste<br />
This <strong>in</strong>cludes waste generated form laboratory and wash<strong>in</strong>g, clean<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
housekeep<strong>in</strong>g and dis<strong>in</strong>fect<strong>in</strong>g activities.<br />
Category No.9- Inc<strong>in</strong>eration Ash<br />
This consists of ash form <strong>in</strong>c<strong>in</strong>eration of any bio-medical waste.<br />
Category No.10- Chemical Waste<br />
This conta<strong>in</strong>s chemical used <strong>in</strong> production of biological and chemical used <strong>in</strong><br />
dis<strong>in</strong>fection, <strong>in</strong>secticides, etc.<br />
4.1 SEGREGATION OF WASTE<br />
4.1 It should be done at <strong>the</strong> site of generation of bio-medical waste, e.g. all<br />
patient care activity areas, diagnostic services areas, operation <strong>the</strong>atre<br />
labour rooms, treatment rooms etc.<br />
4.2 The responsibility of segregation should be with <strong>the</strong> generator of bio-<br />
medical waste i.e. Doctors, Nurses, Technicians, etc.<br />
4.3 The Bio-medical waste should be segregated as per categories applicable.<br />
5. COLLECTION OF BIO-MEDICAL WASTE:<br />
Collection of Bio-Medical Waste should be done as per Bio-Medical Waste<br />
(Management & Handl<strong>in</strong>g) Rules, 1099 (Rule 6-Schedule II). The collection<br />
bags and <strong>the</strong> conta<strong>in</strong>ers should be labelled as per guidel<strong>in</strong>es of Schedule III, i.e.,<br />
symbols for bio-hazard and cytotoxic. A separate conta<strong>in</strong>er shall be placed at<br />
every po<strong>in</strong>ty of generation for general waste to be disposed of through Municipal<br />
Authority.<br />
