Section 7Refrigeration SystemFILTER-DRIERSThe filter-driers used on Manitowoc ice machines aremanufactured to Manitowoc specifications.The difference between Manitowoc driers and off-theshelfdriers is in filtration. Manitowoc driers have dirtretainingfiltration, with fiberglass filters on both the inletand outlet ends. This is very important because icemachines have a back-flushing action which takes placeduring every harvest cycle.These filter-driers have a very high moisture removalcapability and a good acid removal capability.The size of the filter-drier is important. The refrigerantcharge is critical.
