Electrical System Section 6Component Specifications and DiagnosticsMAIN FUSEFunctionThe control board fuse stops ice machine operation ifelectrical components fail causing high amp draw.SpecificationsThe main fuse is 250 Volt, 7 amp.Check Procedure! WarningHigh (line) voltage is applied to the control board(terminals #55 and #56) at all times. Removing thecontrol board fuse or moving the toggle switch toOFF will not remove the power supplied to thecontrol board.1. If the bin switch light is on with the water curtainclosed, the fuse is good.! WarningDisconnect electrical power to the entire icemachine before proceeding.2. Remove the fuse. Check the resistance across thefuse with an ohm meter.BIN SWITCHFunctionMovement of the water curtain controls bin switchoperation. The bin switch has two main functions:1. Terminating the harvest cycle and returning the icemachine to the freeze cycle. This occurs when the bin switch is opened andclosed again within 7 seconds during the harvestcycle.2. Automatic ice machine shut-off.If the storage bin is full at the end of a harvest cycle, the sheet of cubes fails to clear the water curtain andholds it open. After the water curtain is held open for7 seconds, the ice machine shuts off. The icemachine remains off until enough ice is removedfrom the storage bin to allow the sheet of cubes todrop clear of the water curtain. As the water curtainswings back to the operating position, the bin switchcloses and the ice machine restarts, provide thethree-minute delay has expired.ImportantThe water curtain must be ON (bin switch(s) closed)to start ice making.ReadingOpen (OL)Closed (O)ResultReplace fuseFuse is goodSpecificationsThe bin switch is a magnetically operated reed switch. The magnet is attached to the lower right corner of thewater curtain. The switch is attached to the evaporatormountingbracket. The bin switch is connected to a varying D.C. voltagecircuit. (Voltage does not remain constant.)NOTE: Because of a wide variation in D.C. voltage, it isnot recommended that a voltmeter be used to check binswitch operation.6-38 Part No. 80-1100-3
