BP 601.13 – Nondiscrimination, Harassment, Bullying, and Threats)Conditions for Violations: Authority to SuspendA student may be suspended or expelled for any of the acts listed above if the act is related toschool activity or school attendance occurring at any district school or within any other schooldistrict, including but not limited to the following circumstances (Education Code Section 48900):1. While on school grounds.2. While going to or coming from school.3. During the lunch period, whether on or off the school campus.4. During, going to, or coming from a school-sponsored activity.The Superintendent or principal may use his/her discretion to provide alternatives to suspension orexpulsion for a student subject to discipline under this administrative regulation, including, but notlimited to: counseling and an anger management program (Education Code Section 48900(r)).(cf. BP 603.18 – Guidance/Counseling Services)Alternatives to suspension or expulsion shall be used against any student who is truant, tardy, orotherwise absent from school activities (Education Code Section 48900).(cf. BP 602.6 – Absences and Excuses)(cf. 602.13 – Truancy)Bus ConductBus transportation is a privilege extended only to students who display good conduct whilepreparing to ride, riding, or leaving the bus. Continued disorderly conduct or persistent refusal tosubmit to the authority of the driver shall be sufficient reason for a student to be deniedtransportation.
